Adult Placement Service

Adult Placement Service

Our Adult Placement service provides permanent and short break placements for adults with disabilities within a family home with a placement carer.  This service offers a more natural support option and is flexible, community based and person centred to meet the needs of individuals.

"I get on really well with my carer. The staff at Cornerstone are good at matching carers for me and they come to my home to visit me." Yvonne, supported by Cornerstone’s Adult Placement Service

We work with individuals requiring support and their family to ensure they can be matched carefully with the most suitable carer.  Our Adult Placement service not only provides opportunities for people with disabilities by enabling them to become more integrated within local communities but can be a truly rewarding experience for carers.

Adult Placement Carer’s

Supporting people with disabilities to become more independent, experience new activities and become part of the community can be extremely rewarding. Not only does becoming an adult placement carer give the satisfaction that you are helping to improve the lives of others but it can offer the opportunity to learn new skills.

"I have attended a wide range of training courses. There has also been specialised training provided which is specific to the needs of the person that I support." An adult placement carer for Cornerstone

Potential adult placement carers are required to undertake a thorough competency based assessment process to ensure that they are suitable for this role. After successfully completing this assessment process along with Disclosure Scotland and other mandatory checks, carers are presented to a multi disciplinary panel for approval to practice as adult placement carers.
