Cornerstone opens brand new housing support service in Ayrshire08 Apr 2021
Local social care charity Cornerstone, is delighted to announce the opening of their new housing support service, ‘Bessie Dunlop Court’ in Dalry, which will see the charity’s Ayrshire branch provide tailored support and individualised packages of care to fifteen individuals with additional support needs.
Branch Leader, Carly Nesvat, commented on the new service, “We are privileged to support the individuals who are moving into Bessie Dunlop Court. It’s a really exciting time! The new service will allow the people we support to transition to their own tenancies and develop an increased level of independence. Through working closely with our new tenants, as well as their families and carers, our skilled support workers will use a person-centred approach to help them set tailored goals, settle in quickly and thrive in their new homes”.
The new service at Betty Dunlop Court is part of a £7.66million project to provide a total of 49 new, modern and energy efficient council homes at the site of former Watt Court, Dalry in North Ayrshire. The full development comprises a Sheltered Housing complex, amenity bungalows, as well as the Cornerstone-run supported accommodation.
Cornerstone supports over 3,000 people with disabilities and other long-term health conditions across Scotland including across Ayrshire. The charity provides care and support services to over 100 people in Ayrshire including adults and older adults, young people, and children, all with a range of additional needs including physical and learning disabilities, long term health conditions, addictions and mental health needs.
During the last 40 years Cornerstone has been a pioneer; changing the face of the care sector through adopting and promoting a person-centred approach whilst also championing the belief that everyone should be given the opportunity to play an active part in their own community.
