Cornerstone Connects Stonehaven (CCS) Grand Opening09 Apr 2018
Stonehaven – April 9th, 2018 – Cornerstone, one of Scotland's largest charities and a leading provider of services for people with disabilities and other support needs is happy to announce the recent relaunch of Stonehaven’s Cornerstone Gift Corner to our new hub re-named Cornerstone Connects Stonehaven (CCS). The relaunch took place in the town on Saturday 7th April, with an opening ceremony attended by people we support, Cornerstone colleagues, and some of the residents of Stonehaven.
Our Cornerstone Connects provide therapeutic and stimulating daytime activities for people with dementia, disabilities and other complex support needs, enabling them to learn new things, develop their social skills and become involved with the local community.
The hub is operated by Cornerstone Connects Stonehaven and offers a wide range of gifts from embroidered gifts, jewellery to our newer range of eco & Fair Trade products and local artisan goods and crafts.
The hub also provides supported employment opportunities for people with disabilities, offering customer service experience and training. We also offer the people we support many other activities, including workshops, crafts, and disco’s / music groups, supported holidays and training opportunities.
“The opening of CCS is the combination of a project that started three years ago and we are all proud to be part of this next phase”, said Adele Mackie, team member at Cornerstone. “We have so many ideas of what we would like to achieve with CCS, and so do the people we support. Most of what we are aiming to achieve comes from them. We’ll endeavour to make anything possible for them.”
Agnes, one of the people we support said, “I like Cornerstone and Connects. We have a group on a Thursday; we have singing groups and have discos. I love my Thursday nights.”
CCS is located at 26a Evan Street Stonehaven, and operates Monday – Saturday from 10am – 4pm. The CCS team can be contacted on 01569 760107. For further information on Cornerstone, please visit our website at www.cornerstone.org.uk, or call us on 0300 131 3333.
