Cornerstone’s Children and Family Support Service, CLASP, was recently awarded nearly £23,000 from Shared Care Scotland’s Short Breaks Fund which is resourced by the Scottish Government. This funding will be used to provide regular activities for children and young people in and around Dunoon.

CLASP will put this funding to good use by providing a Youth Club, where children and young people can meet up to play games and make friends on a regular basis. This funding will also give children and young people the opportunity to take part in sports such as football, hockey, and basketball through our Zone Club. Run in partnership with Active Schools, Zone Club promotes inclusion, physical activity, and teamwork.

CLASP also operates a quarterly Parent Forum which offers support and advice to the parents/carers of the children and young people we support. This year, we look forward to adding a couple of day trips to the busy schedule of activities. Watch this space!

Branch Leader, Jesamine Griffin, expressed her delight at receiving the grant;

“It is our pleasure to provide these activities in partnership with Shared Care Scotland’s Short Breaks Fund. We are so proud of what our CLASP Team has managed to achieve over the past few years and the positive impact they have had on the children and young people they support.”

We look forward to hearing all the amazing things CLASP and the young people they support get up to with the funds!
