The people we support at Cornerstone have full and varied lives including prior to COVID a range of activities that they attended from discos to sports clubs on a weekly basis. COVID-19 has put a stop to these going ahead, and it's unlikely that they would be able to go ahead for some time. In response, Cornerstone will be launching our very own virtual activities channel: Cornerstone TV in October 2021!

So far, fundraised income has helped us to purchase 177 devices for people that we support on a low or fixed income to enable them to take part in these activities, keep in touch with loved ones and learn new digital skills.

"The majority of the people we support had a very active lifestyle in the community prior to COVID which was taken away from them basically overnight. Although as a whole everyone has adapted tremendously well, the longer restrictions continued we noticed a decline in the mental health of people we support whose main interactions over the past 18 months have been with paid support, not family. If we had more virtual activities for the people we support this would have a positive impact on their mental health and give them more control over their day to day lives." Robyn Birrell, Branch Leader
