We will have a big presence at The Gathering this year as we are not only exhibiting but hosting an event. Come by our stand and say hello!.
You can also book yourself in to the event Lynn Jolly, our Community Justice Services Manager, is holding on 'Learning disability and the criminal justice system'.
Lynn Jolly, Community Justice Services Manager at Cornerstone, will lead this talk on learning disability and the criminal justice system. The event will primarily look at the experiences of people with learning support needs in the criminal justice system and their journey from initial contact, the court process and sentencing, and integration back into the community. Lynn will present ideas and findings from her role managing services which support learning disabled offenders and about Cornerstone’s partnership work with Police Scotland and the Scottish Prison Service.
You will also hear about Lynn’s own experience of embarking on a 7 week Winston Churchill Travelling Research Fellowship in the USA and Canada, during which she visited good practice examples of community support, problem solving courts and diversion from sentencing. The event will explore how some of the ideas generated from these models are being, or can be implemented, here in Scotland and the UK.
