"My name is Suzie, I'm 37 and mother to a nine year old boy Freddie who was diagnosed with autism just before his third birthday. Being a parent to Freddie inspired me to become a volunteer, as I really wanted to give some of my time to help in the community of which I'm part of. I know only too well how isolated people with learning difficulties and mental health issues can feel. This experience also gives me an insight into what my own son's future may hold.
"During a typical volunteering session we can do anything from baking, crafts, to popping out for a coffee and a chat. I'm there to help in any way I can and do whatever the person I am visiting wishes to do. I really enjoy visiting the Cornerstone house I go to, as such a great bunch of people live there. I have a great time doing activities and always leave with a smile on my face."
