A senior manager at Cornerstone, has been appointed to lead a top third sector support organisation.
Graeme Fitzsimmons, Operational Manager for Perth and Kinross and Dundee and Angus at Cornerstone has been appointed as Chair of the Association for Real Change (ARC) Scotland.
ARC Scotland’s vision is to achieve real change that puts people with learning disabilities or other support needs at the heart of their services and communities by leading local and national networks that address critical issues in the sector - and by providing high quality learning and training to health and social care professionals throughout Scotland.
Mr Fitzsimmons, who has worked in the social care sector for more than 15 years, across seven local authority areas, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience which will allow him to guide ARC strategically over the coming years.
He said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been offered the role of ARC Scotland Chair. Their work, aims and objectives resonate with my own belief that supported people should have real and meaningful involvement, not just in their own care, but in how services in the Health and Social Care sector are delivered.
“I also share the same passion and determination for providers working collaboratively, sharing good practice and learning from each other, as we are all ultimately striving for the same outcomes.
“I very much looking forward sharing these experiences and contributing to the further development and success of ARC Scotland and promoting and supporting the excellent work they do.”

ARC Scotland brings together professionals and supported people to address important issues such as the rights of supported people when receiving care, offenders with learning disabilities and transitions throughout people’s lives.
As well as facilitating partnership working and being an important link between the statutory services, providers and people with learning disabilities and carers, ARC Scotland also have a training arm which helps social care organisations develop skills and practice.
