The winners of the Cornerstone Challenge were announced at an award ceremony hosted at Bad Apple Bar on Monday (10 October).
New to the Cornerstone Challenge this year was The Bridal Party, an onshore team consisting of school teacher Lizzie Hawkey, her friends and colleagues, who used the challenge to get fit for her upcoming wedding. The team were delighted that their efforts totaling 21,300 Cornerstone miles saw them win the onshore category title.
Bride to be Lizzie Hawkey commented " We are delighted to have won first place in the Onshore Category and that our hard work paid off! We went out of our way to increase our steps so that we could clock up extra miles. It really has been great fun and has helped me kick start getting fit for my upcoming wedding."
The Cornerstone Challenge, which takes place each September, is a 30 day fundraising challenge. As part of the challenge the 22 teams that took part were encouraged to walk, run and cycle as many miles as possible to travel around to different locations on a virtual map. Total's The A(lwyn) Team were also big winners at the award ceremony winning the offshore category 9,179 Cornerstone miles. The Cornerstone Challenge Individual Highest Mileage Award went to Talisman Energy's Gordon Cantlay who travelled over 2,542 Cornerstone miles.
Speaking about the Challenge, Vanessa Smith, Regional Corporate Relations & Fundraising Coordinator for Cornerstone, said "I'd like to thank everyone who took part in our fundraising challenge. I am astounded at the number of miles these teams clocked up in aid of Cornerstone and would like to particularly congratulate both The Total A(lwyn) Team and The Bridal Party for their tremendous team effort."
