On October 25th 2017 Malcolm stepped up as the Chair at our AGM at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel. He accepted his new role, as Peter Nicholson stood down after five years as Chair for Cornerstone (and after 14 years as a Director of the Board).
Malcolm, a corporate lawyer, is a former partner and now a consultant at Ledingham Chalmers LLP. He joined the Board of Cornerstone in October 2001 when Cornerstone had a turnover of just under £10m compared with just under £38m today. “I have witnessed tremendous growth in Cornerstone’s operations - not just an increase in the number of people we support but also in the range of services we provide and our geographical reach”, says Malcolm. “It has been a privilege to serve as a Director of the Board at Cornerstone and an even greater privilege to be appointed as their Chair. It’s an exciting and challenging time for Cornerstone as we develop our Local Cornerstone strategy and I am looking forward to my new role”.
Edel Harris, Chief Executive at Cornerstone said, “Everyone at Cornerstone is pleased to welcome Malcolm as the new Chair of our Board of Directors. Malcolm is a long serving committed Director and I really look forward to working with him more closely in his new role. We all wish our outgoing Chairman Peter the very best for his future and want to thank him enormously for all he has done for Cornerstone.”
On handing over the reigns as Chair, Peter commented, “It is very important as Chair to be a confidante and listening ear for the Chief Executive and Leadership Team and to support them with implementing the overall strategy for Cornerstone. I wish Malcolm all the best as he takes on this new and exciting challenge”
