Cornerstone is the first charity in Scotland to be Recognised for Excellence

Cornerstone, will today (26 October) receive the ‘Recognised for Excellence' award from Quality Scotland at their Annual General Meeting and Celebration Event. The leading provider of care and support are the first voluntary organisation in Scotland to achieve this award which is part of a European-wide recognition scheme helping organisations to achieve business excellence. 

Congratulating Cornerstone on their achievement, Dave Bradley, CEO of Quality Scotland commented "Quality Scotland is delighted to see Cornerstone's tremendous efforts in maintaining a focus of excellence has culminated in them winning this award.  Cornerstone stands out as a prime example of how a commitment to sustaining business excellence can bring about transformational change to a greatly respected organisation in relation to its staff development and best practice programmes."

Cornerstone's Quality Development team have been working hard with staff over the last year to demonstrate their high levels of performance against criteria such as leadership, strategy and people results identified within the EFQM Excellence Model. 

Edel Harris, Chief Executive of Cornerstone commented "I am absolutely delighted that Cornerstone is Scotland's first charitable organisation to achieve this recognition.  This award is evidence of our dedication to ensuring we provide the best possible service to all our customers, particularly the people we support."

A record number of people are set to attend Cornerstone's AGM event and guests will include many of the people Cornerstone supports, their families, friends, along with staff and volunteers and members of the local business community.  Cornerstone will also receive an accreditation from the National Autistic Society, currently held by only 18 services throughout Scotland, for one of their services in Aberdeenshire.  Guests will have the opportunity to hear more about Cornerstone's plans for the future and celebrate the work of staff and volunteers.
