Moray respite care services run by Cornerstone have been awarded the highest grades possible in their latest Care Inspectorate reports.
The Birchview and Doocot View respite units in Elgin and Buckie provide a respite service to adults with a learning disability and aim to deliver high-quality, supportive respite in a relaxed and friendly environment. Those supported by the services have access to local activities and the opportunity of increased participation in the community.
In their latest Care Inspectorate inspections, the services received grade 6 ‘excellent’ across all areas, and service manager, Colinne Higgins, is continuing to look for ways to improve the offering.
“Whilst we have received sixes for both services, we as a team always strive to reach a higher standard,” she said. We will always try and make the services the best we possibly can and we are always looking for new ideas to improve how we consult with the people we support and their families.
“It is important to us as a team that we continually foster close relationships with families and professionals so this, also, is always at the forefront of our minds.
“I feel the Care Inspectorate gradings are a great achievement and I am really proud to manage two services and the teams which have been completely instrumental in achieving these results."
