A Scottish charity aims to raise the profile of the caring profession by hosting their first ever awards ceremony at the Norwood Hall in Aberdeen. The Cornerstone Star Awards, sponsored by CNR International and Shell, celebrates and recognises the excellent work our staff and volunteers do every day, making a difference to the lives of people Cornerstone supports.
Former STV news presenter, Kirsten Gove, will compere the event and announce the winners of nine different categories including a Families' Award, as nominated and chosen by the families of those Cornerstone supports, a team and individual award for outstanding achievement and the prestigious Nick Baxter Award, which recognises the loyal contribution of a long serving member of staff.
Edel Harris, Cornerstone's Chief Executive, says "I am delighted we are having an award ceremony to recognise the hard-work and dedication of our staff. We received over 100 nominations and I know the judges had a very difficult time short-listing finalists. The nominations speak volumes about the vital work our staff do and how much their contribution is appreciated by those they support, their families and their colleagues.
Steve McGregor from CNR International, who will be presenting the Award for Innovation, said "We are delighted to be sponsoring these awards. Having been on the judging panel myself, I know what a huge impact the nominees and finalists have on the lives of the people Cornerstone supports'.
Edel continues "I would like to thank everyone who has nominated, our judging panel and of course our sponsors CNR and Shell who have made this event possible in our 30th year."
