Cornerstone wins 2009 SQA Star Award

Our SQA Approved Centre has been awarded a SQA Star Award for Lifelong Learning in recognition of their ability to support staff by delivering real and sustained learning for learners of all ages.

Cornerstone has been a SQA approved centre since 1995 and we  offer staff training for SVQ qualifications such as Children and Young People, Health and Social Care, and Leadership and Management in Care.  Of our care home services, 55% of staff are now qualified to Scottish Social Services Council requirements, and last year 97 staff completed SVQs.

Edel Harris, Chief Executive said, "I'm delighted our Approved Centre has won the SQA Star Award for Lifelong Learning.

"We have invested considerably in building a team of qualified assessors and verifiers.  With a team of eight, we deliver and support candidates working at all levels in the organisation through their SVQs to ensure Cornerstone continues to provide high-quality services to some of the most vulnerable people in the community.

"At Cornerstone we celebrate the diversity and power of the people who deliver our services and are dedicated to supporting and developing everyone who works at Cornerstone.   We realise that standards, commitment and professionalism needs to be evident in all levels of the workforce and our SVQ qualifications are now integral and help enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life."
