Three local charities will be looking forward to a prosperous new year after they shared a generous donation of £15,000 from leading global wealth manager, Barclays Wealth.
East Renfrewshire Good Causes, Dress for Success and Cornerstone have all received funding from Barclays Wealth to continue their valuable work across Scotland.
East Renfrewshire Good Causes was set up by Russell MacMillan who, after surviving a double transplant, decided to help others in need. Russell is blind and knows only too well the positive impact that a bit of friendly support can have on those who are less fortunate and suffering with disabilities or an illness. Since contributing £5000 to the charity, Barclays Wealth has seen their donation being used to benefit a number of individuals in the local area.
Dress for Success is a new charity that was set up to offer suits and clothing for local women who have been out of work for a long period of time and need a helping hand to impress at upcoming interviews. The charity relies on volunteers, clothing donations from local businesses and individuals and much needed support from companies such as Barclays Wealth. Dress for Success' volunteers were delighted to receive £5000 at such an early stage of the charity's development and are looking forward to expanding their range of services in 2011.
Cornerstone currently offers support to over 1300 people with disabilities and other support needs across Scotland. The donation will go towards developing Cornerstone's Transition Service in Dundee which supports young people with disabilities to move on towards their adult life, building their confidence, skills as well as helping them to focus on their future.
Mark Little, Managing Director of Barclays Wealth in Scotland and Northern Ireland commented: "Barclays Wealth is committed to supporting local charities across Scotland that selflessly deliver much needed help and support to those in need. The charities rely heavily on donations and we are delighted to play our part and contribute towards their work and development of their services. The Barclays Wealth team wish all the charities the best for 2011."
