Cornerstone celebrated its 30th birthday in style yesterday. Miss Scotland, Nicola Mimnagh, was guest of honour at the George Square proceedings in Glasgow city centre and cut our celebratory birthday cake, as well as taking part in traditional party games to mark our 30th year.
Edel Harris, Cornerstone's Chief Executive, says, "We now have an excellent support network in Glasgow so as 2010 is our 30th anniversary year we wanted to celebrate in style with a street party while thanking our supporters for their continued support. We look forward to continuing to grow our services in the community over the next thirty years and enabling many more people with disabilities to enjoy a valued life ."
24-year-old Nicola of Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, says, "I am delighted to be invited to take part in Cornerstone's 30th birthday. The charity carries out wonderful work for the people of Scotland so this is definitely something to be celebrated!"
The Glasgow street party is just one of Cornerstone's anniversary events including a new fundraising initiative - the 30:30 Challenge, History of Social Care exhibitions taking place throughout Scotland and local birthday parties throughout the country.
