Cornerstone has received support from organisations in and around the Portlethen community backing our Home is Where the Heart is campaign.
A fantastic total of £760 has been raised by local school children and corporate individuals through a variety of fundraisers. Dyce Academy raised £500 from a sponsored walk and Business Network Scotland (BNS) Aberdeen raised £260 from a charity raffle.
Cornerstone is aiming to reach a target of £300,000 to build state of the art flats which will mean six people with disabilities can have a home to call their own. Situated in Portlethen, each flat will use the latest technology to allow the people who live there to be supported by our staff and feel safe while maintaining a good level of independence. The properties will also be equipped to deal with residents' changing needs, e.g. the bathrooms will be fitted with the infrastructure to accommodate a hoist. This way someone with progressively reducing mobility can remain in their home with support for longer.
We have received support from the Scottish Government and Aberdeenshire Council toward the build but still need donations to reach our huge target. There are many ways for you, your school, community group or corporate organisation to get involved too.
