Cornerstone, is to launch its latest fundraising campaign at a fun-filled Valentine’s ceilidh in Dumbarton.
The ‘Tartan Hearts’ ceilidh, which takes place on Saturday, February 15, at Burgh Hall, on Church Street in Dumbarton, marks the beginning of the ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ campaign, which aims to raise £300,000 for the charity’s latest development, Baxter View.
Once completed this summer, the Baxter View homes will provide accommodation for people who are currently living in facilities in other local authorities.
The planned accommodation, which will provide purpose-built homes for up to 10 people, will allow a greater degree of independent living than is normally the case for individuals with high level needs.
The accommodation will comprise six single bedroom properties and two 2-bedroom properties – either for residents who would like to share or for those who require sleepover services.
Guests at the event will enjoy a traditional Scottish evening of dancing and music provided by Ceilidh Minogue, with a raffle and games to help boost the fundraising pot.
Tickets for the ceilidh, which is bring your own bottle, will cost £10 which will include soft drinks and nibbles.
Hazel Brown, Cornerstone’s regional director, said: “This is a very exciting development and we are now looking to launch the fundraising scheme which will help to raise the final funds need for Baxter View.
“Having your own space to live in and a place to call home is something many of us take for granted but for people with disabilities it can be one of the many challenges they face in life. For the future residents we are offering an opportunity to move out of shared accommodation, gain independence and return to their support network of family and friends.
“We need the support of the community to help make this happen, so dust off your dancing shoes and get a group of friends together for what promises to be an amazing night.
”Your support can help us build a bespoke service that will enable us to shape and deliver care to meet the individual needs of the people we support.”
