Our latest fundraising campaign has received a massive boost with the donation of £10,900 from William Wilson and its manufacturers.
The donation, which comes in the form of goods and time, will be put towards Cornerstone's ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is' scheme.
The appeal aims to raise enough money, with additional funding from the Scottish Government, to build six flats which will allow six people with disabilities from the local area to enjoy a home of their own.
Situated in Portlethen, each flat will use the latest technology to allow the people who live there to be supported by Cornerstone staff and feel safe while maintaining a good level of independence. The properties will also be equipped to deal with residents' changing needs.
The donation included a brand new heating system, bathroom suites and an external drainage system, which were kindly given by William Wilson, Myson Underfloor Heating, Ideal Heating, McDonald Engineers, Grundfos & Danfoss, Ideal Standard, Kohler Mira and Polypipe Terrain.
Lynne Robertson, Cornerstone's Director of Finance and Fundraising, said: "We are really thankful to everyone at William Wilson and the partnering companies for the donations of goods and time. This is a huge boost to our campaign.
"By joining Cornerstone's Home is where the heart is campaign today you can be sure you are making a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities and other support needs in your community."
David Mackinlay, Deputy Managing Director at William Wilson, added: "We are delighted to have been involved in such a worthwhile cause as the Home Is Where The Heart Is appeal. It was also a good fit for us because we were able to co-opt in some of our major manufacturing partners, and I express my thanks to them all.
"We were also able to add value to our contribution by offering technical expertise through our unique heating design service."
There are lots of ways for schools, community groups, corporate organisations and individuals to get involved in the Home Is Where The Heart Is appeal.
