Young swimmers join charitys CEO in final day of fundraising challenge

A team of young people from Aberdeen Amateur Swimming Club joined Cornerstone's Chief Executive to complete her swimming challenge in celebration of their respective 30th anniversaries.

Hosted at the Stonehaven Open Air Pool today the event marked the end of CEO, Edel Harris' 30:30 Challenge.  Edel has swum 30 lengths of the 50m pool for 30 consecutive days in support of Cornerstone's new fundraising initiative launched earlier this year.  Her efforts have raised in excess of £2500 in support of Cornerstone's work in the community enabling people with disabilities and other support needs to enjoy a valued life.

Around 30 young people from Aberdeen Amateur Swimming Club attended and were joined by a crowd of supporters.  Edel Harris commented "I am delighted that the young swimmers joined me for my final swim.  My personal 30:30 Challenge has been great fun, albeit hard work during some of the poor weather this month.

"I wish to thank my supporters who have generously sponsored me.  I hope many people in the community get involved in our 30:30 Challenge this year and help make a difference to the lives of the people we support throughout Scotland."
