Our North Lanarkshire service always do an amazing job celebrating holidays and this Easter was no different!

Staff and volunteers at the Airdrie hub hosted an Easter-event that was open for all. The staff worked hard to get the place decorated and put up a marquee where people could get their face painted or sit outside and have a chat.

The inside of the Airdrie hub was home to some incredible stalls selling homemade crafts. Crocheted blankets, knitted booties, wax melts and candles were just some of the things people had brought to sell.

There were also some games including a tombola which George, a person we support, helped run.

Attendees of the event were treated with hot dogs, and all the cakes you could ever dream of. The only cost was a small donation to Cornerstone to help the North Lanarkshire branches continue supporting the people in their services.

Cornerstone’s Baxter Bear even showed up to take some photos and greet everyone as they came inside.

This was the Airdrie hub’s first time opening its doors to the community since COVID and they were delighted to welcome a few members of the public to the event. Now that restrictions are easing, Airdrie staff are looking forward to planning more activities like this.

Robyn Birrell, branch leader for North Lanarkshire’s supported living branch expressed what it felt like to host the event. "This Easter event brought some stress but most importantly joy to all of the local leaders including myself; as a team we have been dreaming about our first community event since moving into our new hub 18 months ago and so to have that dream come to fruition and observe our colleagues, the people we support, families and members of our community come together and enjoy themselves was truly amazing. It is never easy to co-ordinate such an event on top of a day job so proud of the leaders for all their efforts and thankful to everyone who volunteered and made the day a success.”
