Kerryann Meehan was the Mary Williamson award winner for Shared Lives at our 2023 Star Awards. Kerryann is supported by her Shared Lives carers Sandra and Stephen in Irvine, Ayrshire. In September 2022, Kerryann found out the exciting new that she was going to become a Mum!

With support from Sandra and Stephen, Kerryann attended many health appointments, including those with her safeguarding midwife, regular baby growth scans and classes to learn how to bath, feed and make up baby bottles. On the 22nd of May, Kerryann gave birth to a healthy baby girl called Lily weighing 6 lbs and 10 ounces. Both mum and baby were well, and it was a shared special, emotional, and proud moment for everyone involved.

Throughout Kerryann's pregnancy and after giving birth, she contributed towards the Shared Lives Plus parenting project & has been at the helm of new guidance. Her case study is being used for all Shared Lives schemes in Scotland and the UK, as well as being involved with the New Beginnings Group.

Family Placement Lead - Marissa Speed commented: ‘It’s really clear from this experience that having the right support at the right time can enable people we support to achieve their aspirations and amazing outcomes.’

Kerryann has said “I am loving being a Mum, caring for my baby girl and learning as I go. I’m so happy Lily is healthy and thriving, while I start this next journey of being a parent with the support and advice from Sandra & Stephen.”

Since then, Kerryann has continually proved to be an incredible mum who always puts her daughter first. To our delight Kerryann and Lily were happy to attend a photoshoot to be the cover stars of our Cornerstone Christmas card 2023. We can't wait to see what the future has in store for them!
