Learner of the Year - Lauren Millar

Congratulations to our 2024 Star Award Learner of the Year winner Lauren Millar (Regulations & Standard Officer).

From the day that Lauren joined Cornerstone, she has shown an exceptional commitment to learning. She embraces the training opportunities open to her through our own in-house resources, including our training courses, manuals and policies, and learning from peers. She actively seeks out external sources of learning such as online resources and external seminars. Every new task that she takes on she sees as a learning opportunity.

Although in her role she does not directly work with people we support, she recognises that she will interact with people we support from time to time and is very keen to understand learning disabilities, so has completed eLearning courses in Autism, Trauma-informed care, and SCLD Human Rights to gain a foundation knowledge in this area.

Lauren’s commitment to learning new skills and taking on new knowledge has added huge value to several teams and functions including IT, quality, data protection, and finance, and has given assurance that important processes and tasks are being well managed. Overall, Lauren really exemplifies Cornerstone’s values.

Lauren’s SVQ assessor commented: “I wish every team could have a Lauren, she’s been a pleasure to work alongside and I’m grateful to have been able to play a small role in her learning journey”.
