North Lanarkshire Supported Living

At the North Lanarkshire Supported Living (NLSL) Branch, we work across all six localities (Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Motherwell and Wishaw). We currently support over 40 young and older adults diagnosed with different physical and mental disabilities and conditions such as learning disabilities, autism, dementia, personality disorders, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, incontinence, etc. We deliver care at home services, supporting individuals with their own self-directed support (SDS) budget to live in their own tenancies with a small, highly trained team of support colleagues. The team enable the person they are supporting to develop their skills, promote confidence, and ultimately achieve the outcomes that are important to them, such as, maintaining a home, healthy eating, accessing local facilities, attending medical appointments, maintaining and making new relationships, going on holiday and much more. When it comes to outcomes, the sky is the limit!

The NLSL branch also provides our Technology Enabled Care and Support (TECS) Overnight Responder service. This service was set up in 2019 and has been supporting individuals with cutting-edge technology installed within their homes with our local responder team monitoring from our Coatbridge hub. The responder team provides practical and emotional, planned or emergency support from 10pm-8am every night with both remote and physical responses as required that aim to minimise risks and promote independence.

We are proud to have been delivering front line support to the community of North Lanarkshire for over 20 years and continue to look forward to the future; devising plans on how we can develop as a branch and have a positive impact on as many people as we can in the local community. As a team, our priority is continuously ensuring that the people we support have a person-centred package that enables them to live the best life possible.

Our North Lanarkshire Supported Living branch is led by Robyn Birrell.

"The continued support from my team has helped me get through a tough time, they always stay in contact with my health team and encourage me to stay positive. I couldn’t get through the challenges if they did not stick by me like they do."
